Johnson didn’t post flashy numbers but he has great traits as a receiver. The 2-star prospect from Lakewood, Colorado accepted the scholarship offered to him by Colorado state over offers extended to him by Army and Northern Colorado. Bisi was overshadowed by guys like Michael Gallup and Preston Williams the past couple of seasons but he may be well regarded in scouting circles because of his natural ability at the position. He got to the national stage when he received a Combine invite and posted impressive test numbers. Still Johnson will have to prove he can at least keep up the volume he posted in college. He has some special teams experience as a kick and punt returner but wasn’t very good so he’ll have to also make his way on special teams as a coverage man. Still Johnson is an intruding late round option at receiver who could surprise as a contributor at the next level.StrengthsGood size, quickness, and athleticism for the position.Johnson wins with his short area quickness and crisp routes. He runs them with precision and understand the nuance of selling his defender. He is especially effective at comeback routes where he can create separation at the top.Natural reliable hands that can haul in passes at a variety of catch points. Looks passes in completely and is more advanced than some of his peers in this area. Team player who has experience returning kicks and is a willing blocker.Has experience playing outside and inside.WeaknessesInconsistent play speed doesn’t match his test numbers. Not much of a threat after the catch on the run because he goes down easy. Ran a simple route tree at CSU and will have to show he can handle the more complex stuff.Doesn’t have that second gear to really challenge vertically.Let’s see his work:More Olabisi Johnson videosHow He Would Fit On The RedskinsJohnson is this year’s Ryan Grant or Trey Quinn. I guarantee Jay Gruden has come up with all sorts of interesting colloquialisms and praise for Johnson in the film room. He isn’t flashy, he isn’t a physical specimen, he’s just a guy that can run really good routes and catch the ball really well. I’m sure there is a spot for him on this team as long as Gruden is the coach. For what its worth I think Johnson could have a really nice season or two in his career in the right offense. I don’t think the Redskins offense conceptually is bad for him at all. Gruden loves those short comeback routes on the outside. He could be a surprise relatively soon in his career if he could work his way into the receiver rotation. The type of routes he’s good at are the exact type of thing Gruden (or O’Connell?) are going to implement to help out a new QB in the offense. Keenum is much better when he’s throwing the short stuff too. Also, it’s not like Johnson is slow. If he’s given the right look he can be a threat with the intermediate stuff as well. I think Johnson will be exposed to more variety of routes in the NFL and that he’ll handle that learning curve fine. I could see him having a nice contributing role like Chester Rogers in this offense. WASHINGTON (AP) — The possibility of bringing in Colin Kaepernick for a tryout was “discussed” by the quarterback-needy Washington Redskins, according to coach Jay Gruden, who said Tuesday the team made a “strictly football” decision to look elsewhere.“Isn’t it obvious what the real reason is?” Kaepernick’s lawyer, Mark Geragos Cheap Ross Pierschbacher Jersey , wrote in an email to The Associated Press.Kaepernick, who led the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl appearance, hasn’t played since the 2016 season, when he began kneeling during the national anthem as a way to protest police brutality and social and racial injustice. He filed a grievance against the NFL last year, saying team owners colluded to keep him off rosters.Gruden told reporters during a conference call that there would have been “a greater possibility” of considering Kaepernick for a roster spot if the Redskins were in need of a QB in Week 1 rather than at this stage of the season.“Not a lot of time to really get a brand new quarterback and new system installed and taught in a couple of days of practice,” Gruden said. “So he’s been talked about and discussed, but we’ll probably go a different direction.”Added Gruden: “You want to have somebody with a similar skillset to the quarterback you have. Not that Colin can’t do some of the things that I’m talking about, but somebody with a little bit of familiarity.”Washington quarterback Colt McCoy had surgery Tuesday after fracturing his right fibula in a 28-13 loss at the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night. McCoy had replaced Alex Smith as the starting quarterback after Smith broke his right leg in a game last month and was ruled out for the season.Gruden said McCoy would not go on injured reserve immediately because there is a slight chance he might be able to return to action by Week 17.Now the Redskins will turn to Mark Sanchez, who starts at QB next Sunday for the Redskins (6-6) against the visiting New York Giants (4-8).Against the Eagles, the 32-year-old Sanchez compiled a passer rating of 53.7 Ross Pierschbacher Jersey , going 13 for 21 for only 100 yards with one interception and one fumble that he managed to recover.“For me to go in and play was in an emergency situation and those things happen. Now it goes from contingency plan to game plan,” Sanchez said. “Listen, I’ve seen just about everything in this league except for, I don’t know, a Super Bowl game.”He hasn’t started a regular-season NFL game since going 0-2 in the 2015 season.Sanchez’s career passer rating is 73.7, and he has more interceptions (87) than TD passes (86) since entering the league as a first-round draft pick of the New York Jets.Gruden said the Redskins would be bringing in a couple of unemployed quarterbacks for workouts later Tuesday and then would decide among them and those street free agents that tried out last month when Sanchez was signed. That group included Kellen Clemens, T.J. Yates, EJ Manuel and Josh Johnson.Notes: Already missing two starting guards, the Redskins lost two more against Philadelphia. Jonathan Cooper tore a biceps tendon and needs season-ending surgery; Tony Bergstrom will miss at least two games with a high ankle sprain. … LB Ryan Anderson will likely miss at least a week with a strained hamstring.
